■ History
Our firm was established in 1960 by the late Irie Ichiro, a former judge and former Commissioner of the Japan Fair Trade Commission. Subsequently, in 1983, the original name, Irie Law Office, was changed to Hibiya Sogo Law Offices, which remains our name today.
The tradition and track record of our antitrust law practice, forged by Irie as an antitrust law expert handling various antitrust cases including the Fuji-Yawata Steel joint venture case, had been carried forward by our current senior partner attorneys. We have further developed this practice through our daily response to the diverse and ever-changing cases and advisory work, as well as our ongoing adaptation to repeated revisions of the Antimonopoly Act and related laws.
Currently, we handle numerous international cases, including international cartels and mergers and acquisitions(M&A), in addition to domestic matters. We also provide comprehensive corporate legal services across a wide range of areas beyond the Antimonopoly Act.
